Been looking at a lot of pipes lately... and there is this one Italian job that keeps calling my name. It's a bent dublin with a silver spigot style mount. I was wondering if any of our brothers here could share their thoughts on this style. I am wondering if it is hard to keep clean, and if it is perhaps a little harder to get a good tight fit ie, metal on metal and what not. Thanks in advance,

I can only comment regarding Peterson spigots of which I have a few. I don't find anything about them that is better or worse than standard fittings other than they do need to be firmly joined together or they may come apart at the most unexpected moment. None of my Pete's bottom out in the mortise, there is a small space that can catch a pipe cleaner if you don't have the tip perfectly straight, which is sometimes difficult especially with a bent pipe. As such, you do have to keep the bottom of the mortise cleaned out more so than with a standard pipe. I like the spigots a lot and have been making them a small sub-collection especially in my Peterson's.

Apart from two Pete's, I have a couple of Mastro de Paja spgots & a Ser Jacopo. Never had a problem with fit on any of them. They're all pretty well engineered. Fully agree with what Hunter says.

I have three silver spigot Peterson pipes, very classy looking with that
silver shined up.True, you had better make sure you have a firm fit or it's
a hot bowl in your lap.Any moisture on the fitment causes them to fall apart,
so be careful and wipe it dry if you take it apart mid-smoke.
