Anyone noticed any differences in a blend when smoking in the rain? What I had in mind is outdoors on a covered patio.

I ask because moisture in the air makes odors stronger, more robust, and thought that this might effect a pipes flavor perception, especially on retro-hale.

It is rainy this evening and might see if I notice anything...

I walk 30+ minutes almost every night of the year. Even when it is raining, I usually fit in my walk between storms. Wind is more of a no-no than rain. I definitely notice a flavor differential with humidity levels. I can't get a tight read on it though. I've walked in sprinkling weather and had robust, great smokes, and I've walked in dry, cool weather and thought the same. I think there are a few variables at play here. It isn't just moisture levels. I suspect that the higher the ozone levels, the better. Just a hunch, though.

That makes sense.

Now this is more than a little crass, but what got me thinking about it was reading or hearing awhile back that moisture has an effect. The example gives was when a person passes gas in the shower. It always smells different :(

Glad you liked that! :D

In all seriousness, There is bound to be a difference between having a bowl on the porch, in the rain in the Pacific northwest and having one on the porch during a drought in Phoenix AZ.

The higher the humidity, the higher your sense of smell.
