Bottom line is this. My B&M shop let me sell a bunch a Cuban cigar boxes there and wouldn't take a cent.

I made a donation to Greyhound rescue in their name and I have me eyes on a meer churchwarden.

It's my birthday this Friday and I was gonna pul the trigger. I cannot afford a Baki, Altinok, or IMP at this present time. With my member discount this very nice pipe will be under C-note.

But I don't know about SMS and their quality. Because if they are NOT guaranteed BLOCK meer, there are a few Nordings I have my eyes on too. Either way, the money is going back to the shop, which I feel good about. So speak freely about SMS, because it is all good in the hood anyway.

Thanks brothers!

The one friend I have in town that pipes with me occasionally has an SMS he's had for a decade and loves it. *shrug*

Nordings are also something I like, provided they're the hand made kind.

Good on you for donating to greyhound rescue... greyhounds are cool dogs.

I do have to say, IMPs are EXCELLENT pipes and are usually equal to in price as SMS, just for future reference. 8)

I have a large SMS bent, and it's the pipe I use most. I'm not sure why that is, but I just naturally reach for it. If I had to say anything bad about it, it would be that the draw is passable, but not great. It has the delrin, or whatever it's called, mortise and tenon setup. I would buy another, based on its quality, but before I did that I think I would look for a more open draw. I have read on this site that there do exist manufacturers who provide a more open draw on their pipes. One is Baki, I think, but I'm too lazy to look it up. But the SMS is OK. The gradual coloring suggests quality block meerschaum.

Can you smoke ANYTHING in a meer as long as you clean it, or should you separate types of blends? i.e. Can you go from a lat bomb to a slight natural aro?
I've only owned 1 meer, but my experience was that you could. Aromatic to english to VA, out of a good meer you shouldn't get a lot, if any, ghosting.
