Sorry to bore you guys but I'm sooooo bored.

1 week into a 6 week recovery after my surgery and I could almost scream but I won't.

I can't even hold my guitar yet so I can plink around. Maybe I should learn how to play the harmonica.

I get up and move around every hour or so as ordered but I can't do any chores around the house except for washing dishes. A 10 pound lifting limit is pretty severe then there's the bending and twisting limitations. Maybe I should have my wife get some stuff ready for me the night before so I can cook dinner some nights. But then she'd have to wash any heavy pans and pots. I'll figure something out I guess.

TV is just so boring and I'm caught up on my reading. I need to move around.

I know what you are going through! I had a total knee replacement in December and was home-bound for the most part for six weeks. The first two weeks I was in a daze from the pain meds, but after that I got pretty bored.

Hey I feel you my friend. I sustained serious damage to my ears awhile back and developed a disorder in which ordinary levels of sound cause extreme pain and further damage to the ears. I've been homebound for a year and a half so far, and had to give up playing my guitar too. And most of my life revolved around being a jazz musician! Without music the boredom and gloom is heavy and permeating.

Tv is indeed so boring and I'm caught up on my reading 1000x over. I really feel you on that. I hope you're able to get back to playing your guitar soon man, that is the greatest pleasure in life. Wish you a speedy recovery

Been there too. I resorted to reading intentionally difficult books that required a spark note pairing. Like Ulysses, and The Sound and Fury. There’s no zipping through many without re-reading and a bit of contemplation.

For all of you, if you've not read him previously, I'd suggest Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels then anything else written by him.

No need to start at book one. I would actually suggest not to and maybe go with Mort or Reaper Man for your first one. He had found his stride by then as we'd say here in Aus.

There's lots of suggested reading orders out there if you want to google them.

The best part for me is to reread them all as new things pop out all the time and the best thing is they are always hilarious as he was a very funny man.

Edited to add, Laughter may not be such a good thing after surgery, wouldn't want any stitches popping.

Looks like a fairly nice, sunny day today. If I get outside early enough the ground will still be frozen. That will make it easier for my walker on the grassy areas. I'd like to walk down to the pond and do some fishing but I think I'll wait until after my first follow up visit to the doctor which is Monday.

I had my wife take a picture of my incision last night after my shower. It almost looks like my butt crack was extended 5 1/2". Lots of glittery bling with those staples shining.

Please don't overstress yourself, you will regret it.

My bro has a compressed spine and is constantly pushing himself too far and regretting it for days to weeks afterwards.

He pushes himself to do something in one day and then has to take multiple days off rather than doing it over a few days and being able to do something else after.

I had a decompression and fusion done during that surgery. After the 6 weeks are up I don't have any restrictions. Just having trouble waiting it out but I know it will all be worth it.

No, never played it. I need to get out my guitar and practice. I wanted to go to a guitar workshop in August but I haven't played in so long that I don't know if I have enough time to get ready after my restrictions are lifted. There will be other workshops though.
