Stinger Removal

I just bought an old, small Wally Frank, and unfortunately it has a stinger. How do I remove it? I've just tried some pushing and pulling and it seems to be firmly attached; nor can I grip it and unscrew it.

Next time you can apply heat to the stinger which loosens the adhesive and helps the stinger pull out very easily.
