I will start with a "butchers prick" I caught one of these for the first time like 15 years ago on a charter off Newcastle,Australia. Name given because if a butcher had a bloody hand when he went to piss.....you get it.

Lizard "flathead"

Also known as 'flatties' 'frogs' and 'lizards', flathead are bottom dwelling marine fish that can be found in a range of habitats in tropical and temperate waters around Australia.
These are bread and butter fish over here but I am amazed by the prices they are now getting $28au per kg.

I reckon on the big ones you could easily tan and the hide does look like a snake or croc.

This pic is about 30+ years ago like barramundi and a lot of fish the big ones are female. Now anything over 75cm gets thrown back as breeders in most states.

Crappie’s area pretty much unregulated pan fish here. They’re an easy worm wiggler catch. You can clean up a pail of Crappie and be eating delicious pan fish dinner pretty fast.
