I picked up a rusticated Sebastien Beo Rhodesian for $75 to have a little flake pipe. I read the product description on smokingpipes.com where they stated that out of all of the SB pipes they inspected they did not find a single fill. I have found that true of mine. However, instead of fills on this particular pipe, there is a bit of cragginess where most pipe makers would have added a fill. To me, the slight imperfections really make this one of my favorite pipes and instead of detracting from the looks of the pipe, they add warmth and heart to it.

The little indentations here and there on the pipe are minor and do not impose any danger of cracking or breaking. I am glad to see a pipe maker that is selling an "honest" pipe... kind of a "what you see is what you get" sort of thing.

I knew a beautiful gal, all of the guys where I worked were crazy for her, she looked and dressed like a model. I was convinced that she was one of the most naturally beautiful women where I worked... UNTIL, I went to her house one morning to serve a subpoena and caught her in her sweats with no make up on! :affraid:

You see, anyone can take something relatively... "right proportioned" and add a whole lot of "filler" and come up with something very presentable. The trick is leaving something in it's mostly natural form and it still comes across as beautiful.

Anyway, I really am happy with this little pipe and would not hesitate to pick up another one. YMMV

I have to agree with you about your Beo pipe ! They do some really NICE blasting on their pipes as well :p One of the guys that comes to the B&M that i go to on Wed. nights has a nice Apple from them that he brings often and it is the first I have seen "up-close" and I was impressed! He's a long time ( longer than me :p ) smoker who smokes a lot of Dunhills and he has stated that his Beo is as good a smoker from the start! I've been looking at them also and pleas let us have your impressions when you have put a few bowls thru it :p

I will, I have actually smoked about three or four bowls in this particular one... but yea, it's still fairly new. My comments thus far are mostly aesthetic. I'll update on performance over time.

Super cool pipe, I'd own it. "Craggy" is just about right for that descriptor...it's a nice blast indeed. :D

I've been looking at Beos for months now. I've been very attracted to the price and quality, just haven't found one that I really like the looks of yet. I love hearing about the good feedback.

Very nice pipe, Jack!

Under normal circumstances, I'd most likely think "beautiful cragginess" was an oxymoron.

That, however, is a great looking pipe.

Thanks for the peek, Jack.

:D

Sebastien Beo pipes, for some reason, fly under the radar. He makes excellent pipes under that brand and they are a very good value.

Oh, and I have an Ashton Pebble Grain XXX with such an "indentation," but I don't care. It in no way impairs it's smoking quality and that "indentation" (yes, it does look like a crack or was carved out, but in reality is a result of the blasting) gives that Ashton a unique character and this is why I was drawn to it.
