Any of you brothers have a cigar pipe style smoking device like the image below? I find this style curious and want to know more about it.

I've heard those called zeppelins. Allegedly because airship crews needed something to smoke that wouldn't throw off embers in the wind that could ignite the hydrogen. I don't believe that for a second. I'm sure it's just because of their shape. I've always wanted one for novelty's sake, but they always seem to go for pretty high prices.

Yes, I've owned one of them twice, and I found them to be poor performers. That might be because I pack loose, and a tighter pack would have helped.

I have one, and old one, and it is in a shoebox in the basement. Not great smokers in my opinion. Just an oddity.

I have a couple but they are really just a novelty pipe, although once lit they can smoke well ,if the tobacco goes out they are hard to relight.Pipeman1947 :pirate: :pirate:

Do appreciate everyone who responded.

Cigar2you, if I were in a position to by a pipe right now I would, and will keep your offer in mind if anything changes in the near future.

I just replaced a stem on a pipe like this for a customer. From what I know, I think it is commonly referred to as a sparkless pipe or a zeppelin. They were supposedly developed to smoke on dirigibles when they still used hydrogen. Seems like a stupid idea to me. When the customer came to pick up his pipe I asked him how well it smoked. He told me he had a lot of trouble getting a good smoke out of it and was keeping it only because it had sentimental value. Weird pipe. I believe Vauen still makes a similar model.
