So, I just lit up some Three Blind Moose from 4noggin and I was thinking how much I've enjoyed smoking my pipes lately. Then it hit me, "hey,...it's been a long time since I've gotten tongue bite." I've finally reached that place where my packing, puffing and pacing are starting to come together.

It sounds kind of silly, but hey, we can't all be pro's.

YAY, Brian!!!

I remember when I had a similar "ah hah!" moment. It's a magnificent feeling. Congrats!

Nice going Brian, I've avoided the tobaccos that give me bite, but that's not the same as conquering them ;)

You know what?, I come to think of it I have been experiencing the same phenomenon as well. Also my tongue is bouncing back quicker from any episodes that have been a bit more assaulting. I would like to get to the point where it's reached triathlete status and can handle VA's, burleys, and Lats all equally as well.

Wait till youv'e had 40+ years of smoking  Contrary to most foks ideas of how things should go these days, smoking a pipe and learning tobaccos takes TIME, the MORE the better . Come back and re-post about this after another decade

As an added bonus with age you can ditch the dentures and tooth chatter on your vulcanite stems simultaneously!

Oftentimes, the problem isn't the genre of tobacco (Burley, Virginia, Orientals) so much as the how.

Other times, it really IS the tobacco.

:cat: :face:

It'd have to be an Acrylic stem to get the chatter. Vulcanite grips 'em better

Congrats brother. I mostly get awesome smokes now, but occasionally with a new tobacco I will get the crap bit out of me.

It doesn't sound silly at all. I am just getting to that place now after around 3 years off and on, quitting, starting back, frustration,,,....
I am averaging about 2 bowls a day and when I first started, It would take me all day to finish a bowl, if I even did.
