I can't believe that rearranging my pipes into their new homes made me do something I'd never done before and that is count them!

This little cob, one of forty four that I have not counting the metal pipes with cob bowls, is an enigma. It has no nomenclature as to who made it, is coated with what may be a dark brown form of Bakelite which I don't understand why anyone would coat a cob but it really smokes extremely well, perhaps someone's garage experiment or one of the earliest forms of Cobfoolery.

In any event another chilly morning so I'm grabbing a smoke of Orlik Golden Sliced keeping it smokey.

That is bizarre. I assume it was done for appearance. Is it quite a bit heavier, thus negating one of the advantages of a cob?
