My Tsuge Kaga that was anonymously sent to me is a great pipe. It smokes amazingly. Yes, I had to do some tricks to suss out the potential draft problems, but I think I did a good job: It performs ideally.

I did discover, today as a matter of fact, that the stain Tsuge uses is probably water-based. Thus, I have a left hand quite tinged yellow where I grasp the pipe. I suppose once the carnauba wax started waning (ha) it managed to expose more of the stained surface, and it has been a little more humid here lately, what with the storms passin' through regularly.

Oh well. Good smoke. :D

Guess I'll have to keep an eye on my hands, Kyle. I shift hands when I smoke my pipes. I haven't noticed any staining from my Tsuge Kaga yet but won't be happy to see the stain coming off on my paws. I'll keep some wax handy just in case.

It was more funny than anything, but it left me with the thought not to use water-based dyes on future pipe carving projects for a good reason.

I found the alcohol-laden hand sanitizer stuff worked wonders getting the stuff cleaned up from my hands, though.

I have a Peterson Kenmare 80S that does this... orange fingers, although not to an Oompa Loompa degree. It's one of my better smokers so I just refer to it as the Bleeding Pete and puff on.
