Wish I had made it

the maker is Grant Batson, and he is tearing it up, this one is called tormented blowfish. And I just might be forced to copy it.

Oh holy effing hell. That's really cool. Blowfish pipes (nice ones, anyway) have always destroyed me. There's something classic and "vintage contemporary" (if there ever was such a term) about them that I can't help but be drawn toward. They don't look modern, but they certainly aren't an average "classic." They're about the only "beefy" pipe shapes which I really enjoy the look and poise.

What a design to try and copy...ain't gonna be easy. A good challenge! The stem suggests it might be 9mm filter--what do you think? It's pretty chunky at the shank, too...I'm thinking yes.

This pipe made my day...speaking of coveting nice pipes...sheesh. :pale: Too cool.

And since Kyle's price keeps going up I should be able to get a real good deal on mine

I just listened to Grants' interview on the PipesMagazine.com radio show. He sounds very interesting. You reminded me to check out his site.

Wow, just took a trip thru his gallery, this guy has some skills! I love this Magnum Scoop.

Yeah, and he has only been making pipes a little over a year. The dude is very very talented, a prodigy I would say.

To say Grant's work is beautiful is an understatement! His shapes are incredible. No wonder, just look who he schooled under. I hope he finds his way to Chicago with a full compliment!

I spoke with Grant at the Las Vegas show in November. The pipes he had displayed were incredible and the guitars that he makes are truly magnificent. The most talented craftsman I've seen in years.

Oh, great, now, another one I have to add to my list!!! :lol!:

Andy, I hope he makes to to Chicago. I just took a look at his work on his website - stunning. I have to listen to the radio show today. I was very impressed with the pipes on his site. I hope I have opportunity to hold one in hand and take a shot at a purchase if it works out.

Happy New Year, brother!!!

Happy New Year to you Lou. Grant is an amazing talent for sure. The exquisite woods and intricate inlays that he does on his custom guitars will blow you away. His pipes continue his woodworking skills in another direction. Amazing!

There is something really appealing about this pipe. I don't care a whit for "artistic" pipes as smoking instruments; they usually seem like they would be awkward at best. As works of art, though, that is another matter. I would buy this pipe on that basis alone. It has a strange, almost steampunk look to it. Count me among its admirers.

Criminey, my price-standing with the Rev at this point is somewhere around...oh, 2,000% markup... :p Conservative estimate.
