Greetings, fellow pipesters. I am considering ordering one of these fine looking pipes. Several members, if memory serves, have recently ordered some of these as well. I was just wondering if anyone out there with one of these pipes could post their impressions (fit and finish, smoking qualities, etc). Thanks in advance!

You'll indeed be ordering a fine lookiing pipe from a fine looking pipemaker (Nanna). And if they are still marketed under the Stanwell name, which I suppose they still are, they can only gain in collectors' value as well.

I have one and it's a damned fine pipe. There is only 1 negative thing I can say about mine, the bowl coating needs to be wiped out before smoking it. I was looking mine over very carefully when I first got it and when I inserted my finger into the (unsmoked) chamber, the black residue of the bowl coating was coming off and making a mess. Personally, I don't want to smoke that crap. A couple of paper towels later, no issue.

For the money, a fantastic pipe!

I echo PD's sentiments: a great pipe for the price. It's as pretty in person as it is on the page, I think.

I've got one and I am impressed. I have the sandblast black due to availability. The blast is nothing spectacular. It's the smoking characteristics that make this pipe special. Very cool-smoking. The balance on this pipe is very nice too. It balances between my lips effortlessly.

It reminds me of a squat bulldog, more specifically, the Tinsky catalog shape 13 which is similar to the last Christmas pipe.

So, you've actually smoked the pipe, after wiping out the coating?

Of course! Whatever the medium is they used, it was a bit excessively applied and I don't care for the taste of that stuff anyhow (I'd rather have bare wood in a new chamber) so I just rubbed out as much of it as I could and began smoking the thing. It's a gem. Been smoking it at least once a week.

I just got a Baronet with similar coating but never bothered to stick my finger in the chamber to see if any was loose. It ghosted some bitter taste during the first two bowls but after that, it has smoked like a champ.

I have the euro in brown.the bowl and shank needed to be cleaned.Great Smoker. will buy again from Estervals pipe house.9 days in mail. broke in quickly, finish good 1 visible fill.Sand blast would be perfect!
did I say great smoker?look at the Hexagon as well, also a great smoker.nice finnish.

Very informative site, lots of fodder for PAD + TAD and good for learning to deal with Flakes and other Types of tobacco.
I do need some sort of money converter to know prices.
Other than that se la ve.

I bought the sandblasted 9mm euro only version from that site as well, listed at 99 Euro thingys including whatever that weird 20% VAT tax they have is. The receipt shows the pipe actually costing 82.50 euro thingys (don't have to pay the weird tax), and the shipping w/ insurance costing 17 euro thingys, for a grand total of 99.50 euro thingys. This translated to roughly $135 USD. Theoretically, you could probably figure out the conversion rate with all this info, but instead I will provide this link which should probably make things much easier than that :D

Edit: nevermind, I spent too much time being a smartass and someone beat me to the link.

Google will also automatically convert, search "399 euros in dollars".

Value added tax. One of the failed mainstays of Western European Socialism. Something that yall's (yes, I am one of the rednecks that Obama has warned you about) beloved Obama has been discussing as another measure to ram down Americans throats in his endeavor to lead us down the path of socialism.

Thanks for the info, however no president has ever been one of myall's beloved anythings, so be carefull who yall's is callin yall.
