I try to sip my pipe slowly, but I usually end up puffing like a smokestack. When I have a really good tobacco, I get carried away. I guess I just want more! Sometimes this can be a problem because some tobaccos will give me a headache. Maybe I just need to put the pipe down and rest a little. Sometimes I just get carried away. What do you do if this happens to you?

Personally I only sip certain aromatics. Most Burley blends I can puff like a freight train, at least I'm able to. I find young not aged Virginia's can give me a bite, so I ONLY smoke aged Virginia's. If your getting a headache or slightly dizzy slow you cadence a bit or as you stated..." put your pipe down for a minute or two and then relight.

PS, Corncobcon I sent you a PM prior

KEEP ON PUFFING!!!

You might try a stronger flavored tobacco. I find with mild blends I try and get more flavor out of them by puffing harder and faster which just washes out the flavor completely. I really fell in love with Old Dark Fired because the flavor is so intense I don't have to chase the taste. The other blend that fills the bill for me is McC Blackwoods Flake. Both are very full flavored and great smokes.

Train yourself to sip consistently.....use a pipe that gurgles. Try sipping this pipe so softly that it won't gurgle. Keep on doing it until sipping softly becomes a fixed habit to you.

I'm serious about this
