Want to go in to the new year with q briar. Been with the cob for a couple of months and ready to upgrade... Don't get me wrong, love my cob!! Anyway, some suggestions on my first briar would be appreciated. Been looking at the Boswell's, but they seem to be sold out!

And of course, happy new year to all.

Boswell's typically posts new pipes every Wednesday. They do notify on their home page when new pipes will be available.

I don't own any of their pipes, but people swear by them. They're like Lay's potato chips, you can't have just one.

:farao:

I have two Boswells, and I think they're both gems. Good smokers, nice folks.

The Xmas rush has probably cleaned out a lot of backstock, but usually Boswell's posts only a small percentage of their stock online. If you're really smitten with a sold-out pipe, call them and ask if there's a similar one in the back and/or have them let you know when a like one is ready for retail.

You might try calling Boswells shop.
I bought one at their shop last spring when JustPipes & I went to the NY pipe show; we stopped in on the way up.
They had a large selection in their wall display cases, maybe if you called and described a shape, size, finish & budget they might be able to set you up.
They are a family run operaton and were extremely helpful, the Mrs. gave us a tour of the shop & smoking lounges.
The prices in the shop were somewhat less than online. No guarentees but it couldnt hurt to try.

Just saw Doc's message: so Ditto.

I have two Boswells and love both of them. Also strongly recommend Savinelli, Stanwell and Peterson.

My first pipe was a Savinelli, a good pipe I think. Cassanos are good too, if you ask me, but from what I've seen not a lot of B&Ms carry them.

In the $100-$150 range you can't go wrong with a Savinelli, or for American makers Kurt Huhn's Countryman line.

Either will give you a great light-weight smoker and a good looker.

Well, the soon to be mrs. beat me to the punch. She gave me her uncles old Wellngton she had cleaned up and a two new blends she picked out from a local shop for new years. I know it ain't fancy, but I'm enjoying it so much. And best of all, it's from her and all her idea. Lovin it!!

It's very special when the woman in your life encourages you in something you love to do.
