Tobacconists of interest in Cannes France?

I have to be in France at the end of January on business. Wondering if anybody knows of any interesting tobacconists or other pipe-related places I should hit while there. I will probably not have a car.

If you are doing business in Cannes at the end of next January you are either in the music biz and heading for MIDEM or you have picked a bad time to visit Cannes. Unless times have changed dramatically the prices of everything go through the roof - especially bars / restaurant along la Croisette.

I certainly visited tobacconists when I used to go to Cannes but I was only smoking cigs at the time so it was probably just basic Tabacs. You will find plenty of those around and there is definitely one by the main station but I don't know how the selection of pipes / pipe tobacco will be.

The last few times that I have been in France recently I was very disappointed by the range of pipe tobacco and the prices were virtually up with UK prices so not cheap.

I have heard very good things about the pipes made in St. Claude, particularly Genod. Not that that is anywhere near Cannes...

Mr. D - although France is historically rich with pipe makers, the tobacco situation is sparse. The pipe tobacco biz is run by the guv'mint, sort of like Pennsylvania's State Liquor Stores.
