Meh , looks barely used . People say anything they think they can get away with. Still a pretty gbd

Hmmm. I dont know much about GBD's but unless they coat their bowls I would say she was smoked (but not much or at the very least "carefully").

Note the pics of the inside of the bowl particularly around the inside rim with the zoom feature, the stain is still mostly visible beneath the smoke/heat discoloration.

Someone enjoyed that pipe. It's in great shape, but that starting price is pretty optimistic. Hope springs eternal I guess....

Check that again. That out-of-concentric rim* is damage some drunken (or careless) smoker (?) inflicted while reaming it with a pocket knife.
________
* 25-cent term : "chatter."

first it's not un-smoked and second it is a post Oppenhiemer produced GBD. At the least it's a Codigan produced GBD ie a newer pipe and not one of the older much vaunted GBD's. Thr style name and number are as listed these days. Someone will get it :p

Totally smoked pipe. Totally someone who thought he could polish/carve away the evidence. Fancy sun-angles show off pretty briar and strangely--not any pictures of the inside of the chamber.

Good ol' ePrey.

Hmm...It's listed as both "unsmoked" and "used". Wonder what he used it for? :suspect:

Marty Pulvers had an interesting comment on another forum recently on the contast between "once used" and "used once".

Googled "Marty Pulvers" + "used once"

and also "Marty Pulvers" + "once used."

Came up with zilch.

Link ?

Oops, attributed that to the wrong pipeman. It was if fact Micehal Glukler at BriarBlues:

Once smoked pipes? Or smoked once pipes? Both if taken apart mean two different things.
Smoked once = the pipe was smoked only once.
Once smoked = in the past it was smoked, but does not say how many times.
I am no English scholar, but every time I read the “once smoked” I smile and wonder how many people assume that means the pipe was smoked only once. While we might not like that it suggests a smoked only once pipe, it is in fact 100% correct wording.

you have great recollection in finding that post by MG, Al.
I love the play on words, it's a George Carlin theme for sure. LOL
I have lots of those once smoked pipes but few smoked once.
