The seller says this pipe is unsmoked. I disagree. Scroll down and enlarge picture showing the view of the chamber. What do you think? :)

Unsmoked Pipe?

Nice looking pipe, but I agree -- it looks like more than one bowl has been smoked in it to me

I note that while the title description states 'unsmoked,' the regular copy notes 'used'. The stem looks a bit used as well, but that's harder to tell.

I'm not so sure it was smoked.

The bowl is obviously coated, but look at the third picture - peering down into the bowl. Just inside the rim between 3 + 4 o'clock position, there appears to be a small dot of virgin wood. I'm thinking this is the draught hole at the bottom of the bowl. If smoked a few times, this would be blackened. Might be a photo anomaly though ...

Fire has certainly been put to that rim!! Whether it was actually applied to tobacco in the bowl is anybody's guess !!

I believe the only thing 100% certain with this pipe is that I won't be bidding on it. Or any other leather covered pipe. Who originally came up with that dumb idea?

Ebay will always be caveat emptor and this is no exception.

Yeah, that's just one of those that put a coating in the bowl. And then they drilled the draft out for ya.
