Yep, that's right, I was having a good day until the mail came. Walked out to the mailbox only to find a box from another good member here, Again! I'm sure this has come to mind on several occasions (maybe a bit different wording though), "Why do these people send a ornery peckerwood redneck like me this stuff?" Well to start this story off properly, a while back I had sent some tobacco to this member and upon receiving it he replied how appreciative he was and that he would send me some aged Escudo in exchange. I told him I wasn't looking for anything in return BUT! I couldn't refuse a age tin of Escudo could I, so I told him I would accept it and thanked him (although I doubt me accepting it meant anything to him, if ya know what I mean). Well, today I got it but, not by itself, he had included a very generous sample of...........are you ready? Stonehaven! Nope, I've never had it and in a way I was hoping I wouldn't like it because all I need is another love for something I can't find. Well, needless to say, I fall in love easy, wow! So in my gratitude I must say, Todd I Hate You!
No, I'm not gona go into lengthy review of the tobacco, It was great and I imagine if God smokes a pipe he has a butt load in his cellar, that's probably why we can't seem to find enough of it.

Oh! And of course he has a good supply of Escudo too, probably even smokes it in Mastro De Paja.

Can't believe your smoking anything other than Escudo Ron.
If you can get Germains RDF I think it's the same stuff.

I'm afraid my friend that anything other then the real McCoy wouldn't be quite the same.

According to an email response from J. F. Germain and Son asking if they produced any other blend like Stonehaven, they replied that their Dark Flake is similar to Stonehaven, which is produced for Esoterica in the U.S. market only.

Still, it's good to see you broadening your horizons mate.

Oh BTW, GOT IT!

I was fortunate enough to be gifted a sample of Germain Rich Dark Flake from a generous soul in England.

I can tell you that it is not the same as Stonehaven.  It is, however, just as good.

If someone offers you a sample of RDF, jump on it!

Todd

And Ron, no need to thank me.  That desperate look in your eyes is thanks enough for me...  :p

Thank you Todd!

UPDATE: My day just got even better!

Really good to hear you've taken a liking to Stony Ron. It's one of my faves and I treasure the small amount I have, restricting myself to it on occasion.

Ya, it's scarcer than hen's teeth so good luck in finding any. Although it's rumoured that one of our esteemed brothers happened on some recently. So it's out there!

HAIL TODD!

Cheers,

Okay, am I an Idiot or what? All right you all don't have to stand up.
I thought and swear I tasted Lat in Stonehaven but, Reviews and nor anywhere else that I can find says there's any in it. States Burley and Virginia's and Burley is my enemy.
I reckon maybe I shouldn't smoke it out of my Lat pipes anymore.

You lucky devil you! That Stoney is amazing stuff. I'd be a happy man if that was all I had to smoke. I can see where you might think there was lat in it. It does have a kind of smokey treacle type thing going on. You're really stretching your legs so to speak with new stuff. Glad it's paying off for you.

No Lat in it. You are correct in your assessment!

Well, I'm real surprised that the Burley isn't eat'en my tongue.
Mark another Burley blend down I can smoke, or maybe, just maybe, Burley won't bite me no more. Tamed the Dog so to speak.

Don't let your guard down. Some Burleys bite me like a rabid dog and others are smooth and well behaved. Not all Burleys are created equal. If you are interested in trying good Burlys try Solani Aged Burley Flake.

Ron, congrats on some stonehaven. I have 3 slices left of some that was gifted to me. I love the stuff. I do wish it were more readily available, though. Todd is good people. :)
