When the tariff and duty are so grossly miscalculated I just send a reassessment request showing the miscalculation by CBSA and get a refund. The annoying thing is that process takes 2 months, and that 1 in 3 of my shipments is miscalculated. I mention it more to caution our members to be aware of the import regulations and to let them know what to expect. All that said, ordering from the USA is still 40% lower than buying from a local shop. That may change with recent developments in international trade between Canada and the USA, particularly in light of the recent dissolution of leadership in our current ruling party and it may change with the departure of Sutliff/MacBaren to STG.
