Though he marks his pipes Tarok his name is Christian Wolfsteiner from Germany who sadly passed away last year. The pipe is called the Wild rose with three knuckle bamboo shank and one of the most comfortable bits on any of my pipe stems, keeping it smokey with some PS Luxury Navy Flake.

I doubt any of the bamboo genus, there are over 14,000 different species, are in a Panda's diet, they'd starve on this minuscule bamboo.

Im no ecologist but is it possible that Panda bears became endangered because all the bamboo they need to eat was used in your pipe collection Mr. Banjo?

Brilliant! Sounds like Mr Banjo has done his research though and the future of the panda is assured. (Hard to believe though given the forest in Mr B's pipe rack that I'm sure will be visible from space ?).

I still have pics of that one wrapped around a block waiting to cure for me to try carving. Good to see it again!

He he. I was only being facetious Banjo. Having been to China there is no shortage of bamboo there.
That is an amazing collection you have and I always enjoy seeing your pictures.
Out of curiosity...what was your very first bamboo pipe? As in which pipe started it all for you?

Psmith, it was actually a Faux bamboo by Radice, I have great respect for that company and love their pipes and the faux one smoked as well as the others I had so I went looking for a real bamboo shanked pipe and it ended up being the Dunhill Shell Briar with bamboo shank I smoked the other day, cheers! :)
