I received a catalogue from WESLEY'S today. They offered a couple of "shop soiled" high-end pipes at much reduced prices.

I bought this Sav for R950, original price R2,100. No postage.

They still have some Dunhills at half price!!!

A Punto Oro bulldog. You don't find those very often! Nice. How much was it in US $s?

The Pipe arrived today and it's as pretty as only a bulldog can be. Can't see why it was classified as "shop soiled" because it's in percect condition.

I'm going to fill it with Petersens Irish Oak now. And smoke it, of course!!!

Italian pipes are well known for their nice, wide open, draw. That's one reason why I like them so much.

My first Punt Oro, as well as this one, came with a bit of a restricted draw. The "problem" lies in the first part, almost in the bowl, of the draught hole. I've opened both of the pipes to my liking and I'm happy with the results. Nothing wrong with the stem.

Smoking this new pipe surprised me again. It's like smoking an old pipe which has been used a lot. I'm a big Savinelli fan but still, it's the same with every one of my Sav's. No breaking in, just smoke and enjoy. And, of course, the same goes for my Brebbias.

I just LOVE them Italians!!!

That is one gorgeous bulldog, and I bet she clenches really easily as well! Congrats Pete!

I thank you, my brother.

Yes, the pipe is so well balanced, it sits between my teeth as if I was born with it!!! :)

Speedy here's one I picked up off of eBay a week or so back it's Savinelli Punto Oro Super Billiard. It has a large bowl with thick walls. Perfect for shag or ribbon cut. It smokes exceptionally cool. Got it for just a few cents less than $70. It was in almost mint condition. Hope you like it. :)

Ah, what a beautiful pipe!!! It's like new. I just LOVE birdseye and, can that be called a Lovat? One of my favourite shapes.

To buy a Punto Oro for US$70.00 can only be a bargain. Congrats on hitting the spot there. :bounce:

You've done well, brother. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Speedy I'm pretty sure it qualifies as a Lovat. Here's a link to pipe shapes and definitions of each. Just click on the shape and the defining characteristics will pop up.

Thanks Jers for your comments.

RR I was lucky. My heart was about to beat out of my chest the last few seconds. I only won by a few cents margin. Of course I didn't figure that out until it was all over. Had I known how close it was going to be... Well I'm not sure what my reaction would have been.
