    What are you smoking?

    Windows update

Banter aside, the answer to your question is basically, nothing. The machine would reboot and you'd be prompted again to download and/or install the updates that didn't take. That's all...no explosions. :joker: Other than those you saw here...

What Are Your Drinking Right Now

A very exceptional white wine made by a gentle craftswoman in France. My last bottle of 2009. The 2010 wasn't as good, but I guess I'll have to pick up a few. Kicking some Peterson's Connoisseur's Choice with it...nice combo.

    VA breakdown

Found a comprehensive answer here, on pipesmagazine.com, courtesy of one Russ Ouellette: Yellow Virginia is usually the sweetest kind, being lemon to banana yellow and having a noticeable acidity to it with distinct citrus notes. Bright Virginia usually is a mixture of yellow and orange...

    Bowl Coating

Most of my pipes are Boswells, and he coats them. The others I have are a Yak, the L'Anatra (no coats), and two Petes (coated) and I once had a Northern Briars that was coated as well. Of the 7 Boswells, one of them tasted 'funny'. Too sweet, in an off putting way, and didn't fit with the...

    VA breakdown

Cool...that make sense, and though I'm aware of the different curing methods, I didn't make the connection to the "red" or "yellow", etc. An "aha" moment...much obliged.

    VA breakdown

Read it previously, along with lots of other webpages regarding tobacco and pipe tobacco. Other than mentioning the descriptors I wrote, I still have not seen definitions of them, but thanks.

    VA breakdown

So, I see lots of descriptors used for VA. Some I know, some I ain't so sure, as they say... Stoved - this is heated and kinda ferments. Red - not real sure, other than a type of leaf like orange or lemon (I see black, too...). Or are they the colors resultant of some processing? How do the...

    Bent-pipe Gurgle

Yeah, this is what I'm shooting for, as well. All my pipes are bent, to some degree. And while my tobak is drier than I think it needs to be, and I pack my bowl looser than I think I should, since I smoke such a variety of tobak it happens. I've always got cleaners nearby, so I swab as needed...

    You a 1-brander?

This almost exactly mirrors my own thinking. I liked the fact that a local maker was turning out good stuff that was affordable. Seemed like a no-brainer, getting an artisan made pipe for less than most factory low grades. I've since experienced a few other brands, though my Yak is by far the...

    Are Pokers Unpopular?

Boswell always has pokers for sale. If not on the web, call them up...they're probably sitting on the shelf. Dave Jones always has one or two for sale on ebay at any given time. I hear they're quality smokers, and I rather like his stubby poker with the up angled shank and bit.

Growley Poker: How it was made

Nice, succinct step-by-step. Thanks. One question, though. I see that the accent rings seem to be about the same thickness...the white and the tortoise colored material. When you show the stem on the lathe, though, and then later on the finished pipe, the tortoise ring looks much thinner...

No more Microsoft branded hardware for me

Took a lesson from you on the first  ....thanks for the second. Really, only option I have is to make sure they get zero marketshare from me & mine...consider that tick box checked! And, yes....I did smash the living F outta my broken box!
