    Coffee pot ?

I worked in a diner, and they would clean carafes each night with a combination of ice, salt, and lemon juice and just swish it around and dump. No scrubbing. I haven’t looked it up but I also never encountered it before or since. Seems strange to me.

    4th generation pipes

I had one momentarily about 3-4 years ago. It looked nice but the gold colored band came loose about 2-3 smokes in. Smoking Pipes gave a full refund. I know that’s not a representative sample to draw a conclusion, but that was my experience. They also seem priced a little high.

    Tuck The Girls In

Curious…where would a 5 year old hear that word? That’s where my attention was drawn. Yikes!

    What Are You Reading?

The last year of working at/from home has reignited my love of reading. For about a decade intil about a year ago I’ve read nothing but Civil War histories and other nonfiction. I’ve read so many novels in the last year and it’s been great. Early on in the lockdown my interests were very...

Do You Still Reconcile Your Checking Account?

Maybe I’m shopping in the wrong places. I don’t have a recent memory of anyone doing that. Everywhere I shop in the United States (I’m in California) there’s either a handheld device or one bolted to the counter at the point of purchase where I do the swiping and entering of pin numbers. Much of...

Smoking may disappear within a generation, analysts predict

I finally encountered this one just this week. I’m not interested in arguing with someone with no authority, so it was a quick “No” and time to move on.

    Peterson quality?

Didn't buy it, but my previous job position entailed entertaining clients and came with a very high limit expense account. And I can say this for a fact. While very good, I never had a $100+ wine that was 5 times better than a $20 bottle. Back when I could afford them, say $250/300, good...

    St. Patrick’s Day Roundup

My “Her Majesty” and all my princesses would have forbidden the corned beef if they had a chance. I wasn’t about to let them in on it. Curiously , when I put on The Quiet Man, I imagined I’d be watching it all by myself. Before too long, all my kids and my wife were in the room watching it...

    St. Patrick’s Day Roundup

I thought for sure someone would mention St. Patrick’s Day! What did you do for yesterday’s celebration? We did the American-ish Corned Beef (sans cabbage - it’s no use with my kids), The Quiet Man (an epic movie AND prolific pipe film), and had me some Jameson Stout Edition along with my 1998...

    Confessions of a clincher

Aw, to heck with worrying about what other people think. They’re your pipes; enjoy them however you wish.

    Forgive my Ignorance Cowboy Coffee

I omit the eggshell, but everything else I would do in camp. Once the boil is off, the grounds tend to descend, and if you’re careful, no problemo. At worst, it’s a little extra oomph in your morning. I also very much enjoy the Country Squire blend.
