    Cleaning sandblasted pipes

White vinegar and water, I use at about 1 to 3 ratio. Cleans the heck out of it.

    Hearth&Home Classic Burley Kake

I've had some of this on my last two tobacco orders. I've got some I've been working on this week. It is certainly mellow. Lights easily, smokes down to a fine ash and is easy sipping. Nice change up tobacco.

    Half and Half Is Back!

I too have fond memories of H&H. My dad rolled his own and it was always H&H in brown zig-zags. One whiff if it takes me back. I've tried it two or three times since I've been smoking a pipe and it was just never quite the same. I may have to try the new version.

    "Stem work?"

I just got two nice Ruthenbergs in. They were both dirty as heck (filthy) and one has a broken tenon, the other a bite through. The broken tenon will head out to Mark Tinsky's the first of the week. The bite through I will try to patch...as a temporary fix. It will probably end up going to...

    Brian Ruthenberg?

Since I just got that nice pipe made by Brian, I was wondering, has anyone heard from him? I know he shut down his website and no one seems to have been in contact. Anyone?

Flakes & Coins: Fold, rub or cut?

I'm a fold and stuff kind of guy. Currently, flakes are nearly all I smoke. Can't fold and stuff G&H Louisiana perique flake. It's way too thick ends up like lighting wood. Have to roll the heck out of it.

    New, to me, Irish Whiskey

If you are a fan of Irish Whiskey, you have to try Writer's Tears. It has shot to the top of my list of the Irish style. I'm usually a Bushmill's, Black Bush, Bushmill's Single Malt (from cheap to most expensive, and best). but Writer's Tears is better. Try it!

    The best Sherlock Holmes

Has anyone read "The Beekeeper's Apprentice?" It's Sherlock as a near 60 fellow with a new partner a young woman. It's a rather good read.

    Tony Hillerman Fans?

While I'm thinking about it, how do you feel about the Longmire series? Oh, the books, not the show. I haven't watched the show. I don't do television.

    Tony Hillerman Fans?

I've read three or four of Doss' books. They are enjoyable. I'm not sure I like them as much as Hillerman, but I like them.

    Tony Hillerman Fans?

I am a long-time Hillerman fan. I lived in rez country for awhile. With his death his daughter is now writing his books. She was his assistant and researcher before his death. I've read one of hers and she does a really nice job of keeping his style intact.

    The Origiinal Devil Anse

I've had the same question, in my head, for some time. I have one and really enjoy it. Would be nice to know who created the shape. A tip of the hat to that person!

    Curt Rollar Pipes

I've had two and they were both great smokers. I still don't remember why the heck I got rid of th second one, it was a great one. I've been looking for a replacement for some time but, Curt's pipes are hard to find. Get one if you can.

I hurt my back pray for me recovery

When I was a little kid, my dad and cousins were butchering hogs. Dad grabbed one sow by the ears and she threw him across the hog lot. He spent two weeks lying on a plywood board. It was two months before he could walk around normally. Those old sows are stronger than they look. Hope you have...
