I would like to add to the kudos for your post, and not only newbies will benefit immensely from it I'd wager, as tongue bite is a perennial challenge for many of us pipe smokers. I cut and pasted your sage advice to my Tips and Info folder in my pipe tobacco database. Thanks.

Craig Tarler of C&D announced today in another forum that Bob Runowski passed away some two weeks ago. I don't know why his passing took so long to reach the pipesmoking community in which he was so active, but there it is. Shockingly sad news. I befriended Bob in several sites like this one and...

I do! I used to watch it in the early to mid 50s. Believe his name was spelled Gargan.

They can be sent by the merchant to customer, but not person to person, afaik.

I purchased a Nerrup Selection Smooth Bent Brandy (32) about two years ago. It took a while to break it in to my satisfaction, although admittedly I have a long rotation order for my pipes. It now smokes fine in all respects and is dedicated to quality aromatics.

I don't know the reason for his abscence, but it was unfortunate that the Dark Lord himself, whose description of Balkan Sobranie as the all-time legendary blend is often quoted, did not participate or was not included in the throwdown. Maybe if someone whose stock of Syrian latakia did not...

I presume you mean the original Bayou Morning (i.e., not the flake version). BM is one of my favorite VaPers, so thank you so much for the tip. But I think I'll use some Flor de Cana, an excellent Nicaraguan rum that I have in the pantry. :cheers:

I just got two tins - Sweet & Savory and Magnum Opus. Popped the S&S and smoked a couple of bowls. A very good, smooth VaPer with some Kentuck leaf. Most flavorful, and the name is appropriate. It did not bite me at all. Pretty good fill, burn. Haven't tried the MO yet, but I hear good...
