Anyone have any experience/testimonials about the Forester? Recent models especially. I'm doing some pre-shopping asking around. Thanks in advance for the info.

About 2.5 years ago I bought a base model 2009 to replace my truck. It's never been back to the dealer except for normal service, drives like a sports car but the suspension is soft enough for a comfortable drive, has plenty of pep for a small engine, gets 28 to 30 mph on the highway or interstate, has very good ground clearance and excellent traction in snow or mud, my dog likes it, my wife likes it and has some neat storage areas built in. I'd recommend test driving one to see for yourself.

Greetings,

My wife drives an 2005 Forester. A little tinny and thinly built, built absolutely reliable, and surefooted in the snow and ice here in Denver. Subaru's all-wheel drive system is the best in the business. No torque steer due to equal length half-shafts all around.

I've driven it from Denver to Phoenix (1000+ mile round trip) several times, and it made it with no problems whatsoever, and 25 mpg avg.

We've looked at and test drove the new, re-designed Forester, and it is simply superior to any previous model. Quieter, smoother with more power. Solid, NOT tinny at all. Excellent!

I would seriously consider the 2010-2011 Forester. A nicely done vehicle. Improved in nearly every way. Test drive one and see for yourself.

Have fun!

Thank you gentlemen. Similar to what I've been hearing. Every third car around here is in the Subaru crossover family (Impreza hatchback/Outback/Forester) so they must be doing something right.

(The downside is, when your car brand sells itself, you don't have too many discount events. So it goes!)

Found this quote from a motorcycle forum:

"Came across a very nice, low miles '05 Subaru Outback at a local dealer last night. This could be the one. But when I told Peggy about it this morning she objected. Why? Subarus (especially the Forester) are very popular with gay women. She's right, as I knew this already thru popular culture, plus I've seen a few rainbow stickers on the backs of Subaru wagons. I don't mind the car's rep, nor lesbians in general."

I didn't know that about Forester's

Get the Outback. The lesbian thing will keep the Casanovas and Don Juans away from your wife. In fact, put a rainbow sticker on the back window, and it will virtually assure it. Something to think about! ;)

That strategy could backfire, nowadays. She may attract a guy who likes to watch. But if the Forrester is good, get it.

I'd love a car that attracts lesbians... they can help me fix it!

The LGBT badge could give new meaning to "There's a problem with the tranny on this car."

Drove home a 2011 Forester SE (base model with nicer wheels and roof rack) today.

Runs fine--oddly nice to drive a car that, y'know, turns over on the first start and has new brakes. No lesbians flocking to it yet. (And we were at Trader Joe's and LL Bean, so they had their chance.)

congrats doc..i have an 09 and love it..very versatile but i found the oem tires sucked and put some new ones on and it made a big difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
