    Rattray's Pipes?

I certainly hear you and, to some extent, agree. For my first morta, I was looking at Chris Askwith, Max Rimensi (Il Duca) and our own Todd Harris. Turns out Todd, who initially, had trouble sourcing the bog oak I required, came though. I now own 2 Todd Harris morta pipes and I couldn't be...

    Suggestions?

Well TBH, Trout Stream, IMO, though fragrant, isn't actually an aromatic.  When you do place an order, I still suggest you try an ounce or two and see what I am talking about. If you're looking for a naturally sweet virginia, I suggest Brigham's Klondike Gold -- it's a flake and quite popular...

    CLENCHING, WHY & WHY NOT

As so much in our hobby, as to clenching, it depends. Depends mostly on what I am doing and where. As for clamping down hard on the stem, I don't do that.

    Suggestions?

Well, the PS Luxury Bullseye Flake is in no way an aromatic, actually a coin cut virginia blend.  FWIW, while a good value for the price,I feel it's much better aged 2-3 years. Since you want something "sweeter and nuttier," try some Trout Stream.  Both Rich at 4 Noggins and Russ at P&C sell it...

    plastic tubs

I agree -- I've found it's fine to store my sealed, unopened plastic tubs of Carter Hall for several years and I haven't experienced a problem --but TEN YEARS? I think that's pushing it. If you're planning to cellar your PA tubs for 10 years, best to play it safe IMO and put it in Mason/Ball...

Help finding the maker of a pipe

Great call, Ryan! The meerschaums from the Isle of Man have a fascinating history. Yours is a fine example, Briar -- a great smoker too, I've no doubt. Enjoy -- and thanks for posting!

    After many tries....

Nicely done on your first pipe, smg! I like the natural finish, and the flow on the shank and how it mates with the stem. It works -- thanks for posting!

    Fed Ex Ninjas

I've posted this before -- the Redhead owns her own business and we've been using USPS exclusively for many years.  In our opinion, USPS can't be beat. Now at times, we have to use UPS or FedEx because that's what the vendor offers. There's not always an option, but if possible we go with USPS...

    Recommend a cigar cutter

Mine's a Christmas gift from a some years back -- a Xikar STK -- and I've been very happy with it.  I've also got a Cuban Crafters "credit card" double guillotine cutter I keep in the car.  Both are guaranteed for life -- I've had zero problems with either. A good friend has a Palio, which is a...
