    Microwave Experiment

I frequently zap wet tobacco in the microwave for 6 - 8 seconds to dry it out a little before smoking and have not noticed any loss of flavor. Todd

    Semois from Belgium

It comes really dry and it tends to burn fast. Don't rehydrate! It will mold in a heart beat. Pack it very tight (like you've always been told not to) and smoke it really slow. Good stuff! Todd P.S. If you don't like it, let me know.  :D

    Advice on a pipe refurb

You bought it to rusticate, so rusticate it rings and all. You can do a shallow rustication and preserve the rings. What have you got to lose? Todd

    Toasts

In my very limited experience, toasts tend to be drier, more finely ground, and higher in Nic. I prefer them. Todd

    A Shout Out for Cartaphilus

Cartaphilus sent me a generous sample of two fantastic blends a couple of weeks ago and I have been too slow in thanking him by doing a review. The first gift was a full pound of a fantastic blend called "Special". I must admit that I was quite taken aback by the quantity of this fine blend...

    Some Recent Morta Pipes

Morta is Oak that has been soaking in a peat bog for several thousand years and has begun the process of fossilization. The tannins in the bog have been adsorbed into the wood turning it black. The longer the wood has soaked in the bog the more black it becomes. After about 4,000 years the...

    After many tries....

Nicely done! But be careful. Once you get the bug it's hard to get pipe making out of your system. By the way, if you want to make it more comfortable to clench thin down the stem just before the button. Todd

    Some Recent Morta Pipes

Morta pipes have received a lot of attention recently, and for good reason. It is a fantastic experience to hold something in your hand that you know was alive 4 to 6 thousand years ago!  Also, Morta is lighter than Briar and tends to smoke dry.  It is a wonderful material for pipe making. For...

Review of GH Black Cherry Twist from Cartaphilus

Let me just start out by saying that this tobacco is not for the faint of heart. If you're looking for a namby pamby aromatic that tastes like some fancy desert then just keep on going. This tobacco is for people who routinely brew their coffee with the addition of three rusty nails because...
