I never smoked the original, but from what I understand Savenelli's Doblone D'Oro is closer to the original Vaper version than any of the current blends actually labeled as Three Nun's.

In my experience, whisky in a red meat marinade, whether scotch, rye or bourbon, helps to tenderize the meat as well add a subtle almost nutty flavor. The late, great James Beard created some excellent marinade recipes using bourbon that made lesser cuts like London Broil down right tasty off...

Kendal Cream is an oddity. I like to smoke it once in a blue moon when I am feeling masochistic. Aside from that, if you’re going to reach for the tonquin, just go balls out and smoke 1792. The end effect is the same but the 1792 does it with a lot more umph. :P
