    Just thought this was interesting.....

"....study authors Scott Adams and Chad Cotti say the increase in drunk driving should be weighed against the "potential positive health impacts'' from smoking bans, French news agency AFP reported". Let's get this in perspective. It's OK to threaten the lives of others including families with...

    Why a pipe?

I took up pipesmoking because all the men whom I admired were pipesmokers, and they seemd to be enjoying themselves. Cigarettes, I think Benson and Hedges or Parliaments, were what I would pilfer from the parents. But, the pipe was always available in my grandfather's work area, or on his...

    C&D's Epiphany

Carlos, I wouldn't be surprised that HftH came to mind. When I originally blended HftH, Revelation was in my mind, same basic components, and I wasn't pleased with the HoW product. It wasn't difficult to move toward the Epiphany formula after that.

    Stonehaven...I don't get it

While I think that Stonehaven is smokable, it doesn't really do the proverbial whistles and bells. It works best for me in smaller bowls and slightly drier. It helps to rub out small quantities, too.

    " I'll Be Seeing You..."

Ken, don't worry. They do wonders these days with duct tape and superglue. :affraid: Be well, come back soon.

Estimating How Much Tobacco You Smoke - Experiment

Normally, I smoke one 14oz tub of Edgeworth RRd each month, averaging about 8 smokes each day. This is the base smoke, and addes to periodically w/ random bowls of Barrister, OJK, HB, and, for the last month, 4Seasons.

    bulk of your pipes

Right now, the operational rotation, the one that I use most often every day, is strong on Petersons (6), 8 KWs, and 5 Ropps Now, it may change slightly as i rotate in a few more Petersons and 5-6 Custombilts, but not much after that change.

    Edgeworth Ready Rubbed

[My other concern is: if I open a can to smoke now, I know that it is going to remain in use for at least a couple of months. I don't know if its qualities will remain intact after that time. I wonder if I should divide the contents among a few storage jars and use one jar at a time, or if that...

    Mike Brissett Pipe

A very fine pipe there, and an outstanding classic shape. Better still the 20th anniversary of your recovery. For that, you clearly deserve a "well done". I have been clean and sober for 27 years, and I know the accomplishment. Well done!.

    Edgeworth Ready Rubbed

I smoke a lot of ERRd, about a tin every 4-5 weeks, and always keep a few tins in storage. The oldest tin that I have smoked of its current incarnation was about 1.5 years old; a little softer but nothing notable. I've had a bowl or two from the Larus Bros period and the tastes are a little...

My wife did it again LMAO

You're a lucky guy. My wife and I have been together for 30 years, and she is a 2 year survivor of breast cancer. I'm thankful every day for her. She and her sister, 20 year survivor, walk each year in the Phila area Walk.

    Wonderful Smokers

I have 4 Wilkes, two which I recently obtained from IrishLefty, a fine seller and refurbisher, and two which I traded for years ago. The latter two Wilkes were 1/2 bents carved by past Wilke employee Steve Johnson, former Dunhill rep and excellent carver of his own pipes. These latter two...

The Creature From The Black Lagoon

Did I mention Julie Adams? The two sequels, while well populated by '50s B-movie stars (John Agar, Rex Reason, Jeff Morrow) just didn't have the innovative edge of the first film. What I find most fascinating is the durability of the original film, which was essentially an up-graded B film.

The Creature From The Black Lagoon

Great film, despite its anomalies. Notable for 1) all the smoking, +; 2) Julie Adams, ++, and 3) setting a higher bar for sci-fi films. Did I mention Julie Adams?

    Kudos to Justpipes

I have to publicly acknowledge the incredible generosity of Justpipes (aka Mark Hale). It was Wednesday when Son#1, brilliant but preoccupied, told me that he had a package which he had put in his car because he didn't want to leave it on the porch. Turns out that the package was from Mark and...

    Mac Baren's Symphony

Only IMHO, I can't smoke any of the MacB's any longer, although Symphony and Golden Extra were the last two blends to leave me. I would swear that somewhere in the last 35 years that the original formulae were tampered with badly, or may be that the palate was ruined by too many years of cheap...

    Erinmore Flake

Ian, quite right. Once the not unpleasant casing wears off, there's a decent VA beneath it all, and IMO, a better than average smoke. The key is very slow in a smaller pipe for me. I have a Barling small dublin and a Royal Stuart dublin that absolutely love Erinmore flake and mixture, too. I...

A Follow-up to my recent surgery.

Mike, we're really glad that you're on the mend and you'll be abusing your lungs soon, but not soon enough, I'm sure. Better that you're posting. I miss your comments.
