    Nick Cave

Love the songs by Nick Cave on Peaky Blinders, the British series on Netflix. Amazing series, great music.

Anybody had any experience with these Icarus pipes?

Correct there Rev. They do have some interesting shapes, all the rage right now with collectors and younger smokers. I am not in that category, as my preference lately has been for the old classic shapes. The price point IMO is pretty good and I imagine that they will do well. However I have...

    Sutliff's Carl McAllister Retires Today.

I didn't realize that Carl was ready to retire. I have spoken with Carl many times at the shows and he is a wonderful man with a very laid back attitude and always ready to answer any questions with a smile. I wish Carl a long and healthy life in retirement which is well deserved and hopefully...

    Deflate-gate

Are they guilty of this alleged practice?? Who knows. I don't think it is the first time any team has tried to get a competitive edge in any sport. For all I know, this could be a pretty common, hidden, practice that only the competitors know about and keep as an inside secret. If so, and if it...

GBD Prehistoric Collector Cavalier (Dutch's Pipe!)

Great job on the restoration there Al, as usual it came out looking like new. Personally I think that the cavalier shape is one ugly pipe, but they smoke incredibly dry because of the design and are much easier to clean than a system pipe. Like Al stated, the interesting part is the history and...

Does anyone else LIKE the P-lip?

I own a fair amount of Peterson pipes some with and without the p-lip stem. Either way it doesn't matter to me. One thing I do like about the P-lip is that they are very narrow near the button and they fit really well for my bite. The p-lip draw can restrict smoke flow quite a bit, but again, I...

An Old Friend came home today !

AWESOME watch Monbla. The only time I use military time is on alarm clocks, because I can never seem to set the correct a.m. or p.m. What a fantastic keepsake.

2014 Northeast Regional Pipe Smoking Contest

Sean, They are a great bunch of guys, have some dedicated collectors as well as pipe makers. It makes the HVPC even better now that you are part of the group. Rob Garbarino is tops in my book, a wealth of information and his humor will have you rolling on the floor.

    Have you tried these beers?

Forget the milk stouts. Can't do those. Smithwick's is my all time favorite on tap, then Murphy's Irish stout. Like tobaccos I try to stick to just a couple but it's nearly impossible. :D

    My Mixture

Not being a huge fan of Latakia for a while now I've done as you have. Turkish and Virginia are a sublime marriage. I've blended Peretti's Oriental #40 with some Virginia tobaccos in the past and really enjoy doing that. Unfortunately i never remember the exact percentages of tobaccos and don't...

    I blame Monbla.

Does everything McClelland have to become a pissing contest with you lovers and haters of fine Virginia tobacco??? I guess I'll answer my own question. YES. :lol!:

Well Brothers, I guess my pipe smoking days are over now

Personally, time is of the essence here. Give yourself plenty of time to see how you feel 6 months from now and then rethink your position. And even if you no longer smoke it shouldn't deter you from becoming a collector of quality pipes. It's a great hobby even for a non smoker. I wish you the...

I've now joined The Club !!

Very nice blast on that Dunhill Monbla. Congrats on your new Birth year pipe. It may smoke almost as good as your Edwards pipes and will definitely be regarded as a collectible valuable briar.

Sorry to hear that. He was a real favorite that goes back to the 60's. I still play his music quite frequently. First I have heard of his passing.

Opinions on MacBaren Acadian Perique please

Ron, Fuggeddaboutit. You are a devoted Escudo man and this is far from the full flavor that you will desire. Just my opinion of course, but a connoisseur like yourself will find this interesting but too mild I think. Let us know what you decide after your review of the blend. :D
