how are the New Ashton pipes?

I know how you feel. It's such a fast changing world of pipes and tobaccos. I cannot keep track of all the consolidations between tobacco manufacturers. Drives me crazy, but I have my senior years to use as an excuse for poor memory. :D

Any other skeet/trap/sporting clay shooters here?

Amen. One year we had a league shoot in January, 10 degrees, 20 mph wind and snowing so hard at times you couldn't see the stake. Birds flying every which way. Of all the shoots it's the one I remember the best. I proudly posted a 58 that day. :lol!:   Each and every New Year's Day the club...

Any other skeet/trap/sporting clay shooters here?

Sounds like a pretty selective club. We have some of those uppity clubs around here too, but not being one of the affluent high rollers, our shooting club is for anyone that enjoys the smell of gunpowder and can take some ribbing. Just a bunch of hard working, regular folks with like minded...

Opinions on MacBaren Acadian Perique please

Very well put. Wish I could've said it as well as you did. But this could be an all day blend in my pipes.

    wish I could get it.

Beautiful pipe. But in my biased opinion it won't smoke like an Ashton.!!!! LOL ;)

how are the New Ashton pipes?

That's correct. Jim Craig was working with Les Wood/Ferndown and did most of the silverwork himself. They no longer have any business interests with one another. Jim does all the Ashton silver work now himself.

how are the New Ashton pipes?

I LOVE Ashton pipes. And have had over 50 of them in the last 20+ years. They are IMO the finest British pipe made today. I was able to acquire two new ones at the Las Vegas show in November and they are supreme smokers, no different from when Bill was making them. The Brindle grade is also my...

    Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky Returns.

Always nice to hear of old discontinued blends being resurrected. This is one that I no longer smoke and have sold all of my old Tall Boy tins a little while ago. It's for the heavy hitters, and I don't fall into that category anymore favoring some milder blends presently. Russ is always on top...

Any other skeet/trap/sporting clay shooters here?

I can understand why. There's a young member who shoots with one of those shotguns at our club, and I won't shoot with him on a round because of the muzzle blast. The blast is enough to shove you backwards if you're standing behind him, never mind beside him. He's a great kid, loves to shoot...

Any other skeet/trap/sporting clay shooters here?

I shoot wobble skeet a couple times a week. Love the game despite being a non competitive shooter. Sporting clays is a blast (no pun intended) and I do travel occasionally to a club that is about 20 miles away for that fun game. I am more of a gun collector/trader that specializes in smoothbores...

Someone broke into my house tonight.

Thankfully the incident has been resolved without any bloodshed, and your family is safe. I also use a block at the bottom of the sliding door for locking. Scary situation to say the least. What a thread to be reading first thing in the morning, it's an eye opener.

Opinions on MacBaren Acadian Perique please

I had done some reviews on tobaccoreviews.com to see what some other folks with a similar palate thought of this blend. I've been on a Virginia/Perique kick as of late and was looking for more info. Being that I enjoy most MacBaren blends I had to try this one. IMO nothing will ever replace the...

    No one remembers 11/22/'63 ?

I shall never forget that date. I was in History Class Junior year in High School. The whole weekend was spent watching every moment of the tragedy unfold and funeral procession. And to this day I still believe that it was a conspiracy.

2014 Northeast Regional Pipe Smoking Contest

Sean, This is fantastic, and I'll be looking forward to joining everyone as always. Bill really puts himself out to host this event with the asisstance of the Hudson Valley Club members. Hopefully we won't have to face another major snowstorm to drive in this year. Andy

Why do we all love Peterson so much?

I love Peterson Pipes. It's all about the history, the range of sizes and prices, and the grain on some of them. Sure the lower grades have fills, everyone knows that, but the higher grades are fill free. You won't see a Supreme or a natural finish with fills, and yes, you will pay a price for...
