    Seasonals and Limited Run Tobaccos

I really recommend this, at least at the very beginning. It took a bit of smoking and refining my technique before I started to recognize the difference between OK/good and really good blends. I'd say stick with cheap and easy for bit.

Opinions on MacBaren Acadian Perique please

Does anyone have a bowl or two of this on hand to send me (just enough that you could mail with a postage stamp)? It sounds good, but I'd like to try some before ordering. I'd gladly swap a similar sample of something from my cellar. Thanks!

THere's already been a pipe made from that:

    No more Peterson's, it's Rattray's now

I've hardly smoked any Peterson's tobacco, but I find these sorts of things interesting. I've never even smoked a tobacco that has changed hands before and after. I guess the conglomeration of brands into one factory probably means a lot of diminished variety. The selection of leaf has been...

    Most smoked of 2014

There are starving kids in India smoking bidis because they have no FVF. Don't waste it by smoking what you don't like. I'm sure tons of people would trade for it. I'm a FVF fan, although I like BBF a bit better. Brand is probably MacBaren, since I've been working through their line-up...

    First puffs

I bet there's a lot to the palette fatigue idea. I have also found that if you scrape out some of the ash about half-way down, you'll get something closer to the original taste. I did a video about it in my Pipe Smoking Tips Playlist on my channel linked in my sig.

Ahh, so you just bought different styles. That makes sense.

    Panama Hats- Your Favorite maker

That was probably paper. But if they're expensive I don't see buying them multiple times in 10 years.

    Panama Hats- Your Favorite maker

How often do you replace them? What grade do you get?

    How long till ageing matters?

I've heard that C&D Burleys need a little time to breathe before they hit their stride. Otherwise I've read (Pease, I think) that they age much slower and less dramatically than VAs.

What's your favorite baccy storage container and why?

I use mason jars, but I actually prefer the 4 oz (quarter pint) variety. That way you can split a tin when you open it to try some and cellar some. It's good for those who smoke less often and smoke a larger variety of tobaccos at one time.

Opinions on MacBaren Acadian Perique please

It sounds like a blend I need to try. I've been getting more into VA the past year, and VA-KY in particular. I also really liked the tin of Sutliff GOlden Age I tried. That's got VA, Orientals, Burley, black Cav, and Perique. THe Burley and orientals give it just a little something different...

    Baby due at Xmas? Updated.

Clothe is more work, but can save you serious dough. I think the target diapers are good. Huggies leaked for us, and Pampers were good, but Target seem to be just as good.

    C&D Label Differences

I've never been a huge fan of the cutsy stuff, but I liked the old-fashioned looking blue and white ones.

Congratulations! Kiss sleep goodbye, but get ready for a new love in your life! It's so worth it (my girl's 8 months old now)!

    Frustrated..

I'm a heathen, but sometimes if I've going to leave something jarred for a while, I just spritz or dirp some water on it then jar it. I guess this won't work for you since you can't remove form the tray, but the jar seals it and it eventually evens out. It works quickly if you leave it near a...
