    Knowing What You Like

my tastes have changed dramatically. i went from pipes to cigars and back to pipes. coming back from cigars, i couldn't taste the lighter Vas and Va/Pers, so i stuck with orientals and english blends, some pretty heavy in latakia. after not smoking cigars for a few months, i could finally start...

So I'm Not the Only One

i read that article as well... it mentions the "pipe club" that was having scottish woods remade for them (which was the board i use to mod at)... we still haven't gotten the tobacco yet, seems it takes months to print tin labels (cuz i put the artwork in mikes hand myself back in Nov/Dec)...

What Pipe Smokers Love to Hear

not entirely, but big cities like KC are about to be ruined by them (on both sides of the state line). our hang out in KC, KS is now smoke free, and they've got a bill up for vote soon for KC, MO as well.

    Hope They Don't Suck....

lol. they're new to me. one was a gift from a buddy in amsterdam (he wanted to trade for some GLP blends, i wanted Three Nuns, this was an extra), the other i just bought from a member on another board. i may have to take some tried and true stuff just in case the job gets a tad...

    Hope They Don't Suck....

i've got a business trip on friday that lasts until the 9th of April. in conjunction with packing my pipes and choosing tobacco, i'm going to do the "estimating how much you smoke" experiment that was discussed earlier. so, i chose 2 tobaccos to take with me, just so happens i've never had...

    naming pipes

i've never named a pipe before... i guess "stanwell" or "cavicchi" isn't good enough sometime. :lol!:

    Good Cheap Cigars

if you have a taste for the "cuban" leaf, then i suggest Quintero Londres Extras, Fonseca KDT Kadettes, Fonseca Delicias... or any other Quintero or Jose L. Piedra. they're mostly machine mades that should run your 50-75 a box, depending on where you get them. another cigar that i use to like...

    New for U.S. Stanwell shapes

let me jot that down... :cyclops: that photo isn't the best, it's straight grain all the way around with tight small birdseye on the rim. it's a well smoked estate, still smokes well. only one fill (but i don't care about those, not a "collector", and that's another ball of wax we can all...

    New for U.S. Stanwell shapes

lol.. thanks for the info. i only have two with Reg #s now, which i got as estates for under $20 each on ebay... stem had been buffed to where there wasn't an "S" on the bit anymore. here's one, it's a "royal briar" pot 345 and the other is a "royal prince" shape 12

    New for U.S. Stanwell shapes

i've gone through about 10 stanwells now. i have gifted away at least half. they're just solid smoking, cheap pipes that i can give away with confidence that the smoker will be happy. only 1 of them has been a "whistler". i recently acquired a few estate stanwells with the Reg #s on them...

    old fillmore vs. new fillmore

could simply be "age". a lot of tobaccos vastly improve with some "air time" (getting to breath after opening - may take a few months even).

Estimating How Much Tobacco You Smoke - Experiment

wow. :affraid: i wish i had the time. i may have to try this experiment as well. it may take me two weeks to smoke 1 tin... but i think this may be a fun challenge.
