4th generation pipes

I got an email about these on sale, plus a free lighter. I was looking for two new pipes for sitting in my chair style smoking. I picked up a savinelli 316, which is working out well enough. I was wondering if anybody had one from these lines? I’m looking at the Argang line specifically.

Actually…if it was me I’d much rather talk to Ron about him making one of his epic pipes to your preference. That way you’d be guaranteed of a great smoker AND a work of art as well.

I have to say, his range of ability has broadened dramatically since I looked last. His sand blasting looks good. I’ve been thinking about artisan handmade pipes lately. I’ve never had any luck with them though, what with my 4yr old son filling them all with coconut suntan oil that time. It may be time to look again.

I had one momentarily about 3-4 years ago. It looked nice but the gold colored band came loose about 2-3 smokes in. Smoking Pipes gave a full refund. I know that’s not a representative sample to draw a conclusion, but that was my experience. They also seem priced a little high.

Lol. I wish I could smoke lakelands. They’re murder on my tongue, however nice they smell. I tried all manner of science projects to try and get that funk out of them, to no avail.

Folks are so different in what works for them. I don’t think I ever smoked a Lakeland (Gawith) that burned me. It’s the alkali that does the burning as I understand it. Anyway…after that initial burst of Lakeland scent it sort of mostly goes away and I’m left with those exceptional Gawith base blendings. Broken Flake #7 is my favorite which is a blend of dark-fired Virginias and Burley tobaccos. Many have declared this to be the best blend Gawith does, and I can’t disagree.

All I know about the 4th Generation pipes is that they are made for Erik Stokkebye in Denmark by Peter Jeppesen. While I am not familiar with this particular line, I suspect that they are comparable to the Peter Jeppesen IDA 2 or IDA 3 (based on price). I have had a few Neerup and Jeppesen pipes, and have been pleased with the aesthetics and smoking qualities. The engineering has been good, and for the price I would recommend them if they meet your aesthetic and size specification preferences.

It was mostly the price issue on my end. And a free old boy style lighter was a nice sweetener for the deal. I didn’t pull the trigger, but it’s something to think about. Now I’m trying to convince myself that I need a custom pipe from Ron in TX. Gonna have to save my pennies a bit though.
