In this case I'm glad I don't have the palate that you do, Kyle. I've never noticed a problem with the flavor. I don't know what you could do to overcome that, besides just "smoking it up".

It'll be a challenge.

My senses are left best to frustrate me, and no one else, if I have any say. I'm used to it. I can't even walk within 10 feet of the door of some candle shop, stinky-perfume-foo-foo store or any place that sells incense. Instant headache and can't get the smell out of my nose for an hour. Drives me up a wall. Smoking a pipe, though, has helped deaden the sharpness of certain smells. I can at least take my pets to the vet or go into a hospital without going a little green, now. That's a plus.

I'm like that with aluminum for some reason, if it's in deodorant or a topical medication BOOM metal in my mouth. Try not to use a pipe cleaner in the shank and take the bowl off once cooled and only clean the inlet area, this may coat it enough to tame the metallic flavor.

I'm thinking twice about the advice from a guy who tastes his deodorant. :p :lol!:

Kyle, maybe sextant or SG Navy flake? they have some strong tastes, might work well for ya.

after seeing how the orange turned out on cowboy's pipe I was scared of it
 It takes a a little practice to tame it! Water it down with rubbing alcohol or booze, it'll treat you better. (not the whole bottle though)

yeah I was also thinking adding a touch of brown or tan to it might calm the orange down a bit, I know you have a hard time getting different colors tho

Hey Kayle! You are just used to the goopy taste that accumulates in the shank of an all briar pipe. I find that the tobac burns down to the bottom in the Viking also. Rarely happens in a wood pipe for me. "shrug"

I swear I'd be cranking out new pipes left and right if I still had my garage, my 12 foot workbench, and a lathe or a benchtop sander... Everything I own for wood working got condensed into a 10x6 cell with no power outlets... have to run a power chord from the house to my cave.

I'd love to try taking 4 parts orange and 1 part brown and seeing what that gives me. Dilute it a little bit to calm that mixture even further and I think you'd have a winning color combination. (Or you discover one more reason not to like orange  )
