A true original. Defined the genre and spurned many imitators as well as inspiring a whole new generation who have kept his music alive. Too many to mention.

Not a lot of the old guard left now. Pretty much down to Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Fats Domino, maybe Cliff Richard and some others I can't think of just now.

Yes, I copped a lot of his licks when I was coming up as a budding picker in the mid-60's. Played a bunch of his stuff in various bands. Influence - ya. He was raw and in yer face. The way R&R should be.
