Another Peterson disappointment

I got the blurb from SmokingPipes about the Pete Short Army. Looked interesting, and in spite of the fact that I'm really not a fan of their current rustication, the "shorty" concept appealed to me and I do like the look of the army mount; at that price point I was considering ordering one. I had about decided on a rusticated XL14 which is the same bowl shape as the SH Deerstalker which I own and really like, but when I delved into the specs, I found that it's exactly the same bowl size, and the length is only about 1/4" shorter than the Deerstalker. So basically I'd be ordering another Deerstalker. I checked a few others; I already own most of the shapes in one series or another, and when I found that the lengths really are not that much shorter than standard, I decided to pass. Kind of cool looking pipes though.

If you can judge by articles like below, it's all about the stem on this one (I guess that is stating the obvious with Peterson). I truly enjoy reading about Peterson and the the fanatical fans, but I'm perfectly fine appreciating from afar.
