I have a weedeater brand push mower with a briggs 500 series engine. The thing surges while it runs and I cannot figure out why. I took the carb and tank off today disassembled the carb and cleaned everything cleaned out the tank and put fresh fuel in. When I started it it did a little better but not much. The plug is in good shape, and the filter is clean. It has no adjustments for fuel mixture or idle, and has a plastic carb.

I also had to repair my weedeater today but that was an easy fix, it just needed new fuel lines. I swear I am about ready to look for an old mower that had real engines and carbs that will last forever this new stuff stinks.

Here's one that uses the original "engine" and should last decades. Definitely saves on gas, maintenance and will improve your overall health + fitness.

That pic brings back summer memories of my youth back in the stone age! My dad had one and it was my job to use it at least twice a week. Dad's philosophy was, "Idle hands are the Devi'ls workshop." :)

Try adding a few ounces of "Seafoam" to the gas and running it through. It is pretty good at cleaning out the varnish that can restrict gas flow enough to cause this type of surging. The exhaust will likely blow white smoke with this but that is normal.

It's quite a machine, elegant in it's simplicity.

or a much advanced design that will adjust from 1" to 4 " cutting height, clippings thrown out front instead of on your feet, reel out front of the wheels for edge clipping ..Fiskars Momentum Reel Mower.
