It seems that Odin be against me.

Every time I go to MSnuff to assemble a Viking order one of what I want is OOS. This time around, now that they finally have Viking Brown and Blond in stock...they are out of Thor's Hammer, which was the one I really wanted.

Does anyone out there have some...enough that they would either swap me a tin or send me a fair sample?

It's Odin's job to make sure that no mortal man possesses all Viking snuff flavors at once. ;)

I find the OP to be tragic and disappointing. This post however has hit my funny bone square.

Sorry, original post or original poster. An online generic acronym not necessarily a BoB acronym. It's used to reference the genesis of threads generally.

Well, as sad as it is that Odin is preventing you from the perfect snuff order, perhaps he's afraid you gain the ability to travel through the realms, it's nice to hear he hasn't punished your existence for failing this grand and righteous quest.

Odin's Hammer is essentially Viking Dark, just turn down the aroma a notch and crank up the nicotine (and the accompanying pleasant burn).

I liked it, but won't order again. Hopefully you'll get your hands on some soon, but the Dark is a more-than-suitable replacement until you do (at least in my book).

Yeah...Odin's Hammer is officially described as a blended snuff using Viking Dark plus high quality flue cured bright Virginia leaf. It's therefore a little less smokey, a little sweeter and slightly finer, more fluffy.

Be that as it may, IT'S BACK IN STOCK and I just ordered...along with my personal favorite snuff Gawith & Hogwarts Kendal Brown (which is a totally straight tobacco blend w no scenting whatsoever).

Odin is giving you a test for your patience and resolve! He must ensure that any man who dare have the triumvirate of Viking blends you have described is indeed worthy of such an honor!

The only snuff I've had to date is called Queens' Extra Strong. I feel like it's tobacco centric. I suspect it's a bit stout for a starter snuff based on the name and how I instantly tear from the eye above whichever nostril I've just used. I like it but I've not done more than a snuff in each nostril a day with this one.

Yep Queen's Extra (also sold as Tom Buck) is an SP. Fine-ish grind, quite dry, bergamot scented.

It's delicious, but probably not the best place for a starter to launch from. Snuffs with that kind of dryness and grind seem to lend themselves more to snuffers that have had a chance to play around with technique a bit. Pretty rewarding once you get the knack, but a tough cookie if you don't have some experience behind you (says the guy who's been snuffing for all of two whopping years).

Yeah...med. grind and moist is good to start...move toward more fine and dryer from there.

I'm having very good luck with Viking, Gawith naturals, Rappee types like the SG Black Rappee & London Brown, F&T Santo Domingo & Princes, etc. Best so far is Gawith Kendal Brown. Also, Old Mill Acadia is a unique treat.

Fine and dry isn't too big a problem if you're a placer rather than a snorter. By placer I mean fill snuff spoon and insert into nostril and slap that stuff right where you want it. Slightly safer way for a newb to enjoy the fine dry stuff.

Jim

Also glad to hear you managed to thwart Odin and his stingy ways. LOL.

Yeah, me too. I just can't bring myself to inhale. Took me years to get over my aversion to putting a cigar in my gob too. I expect I'll get there eventually just not anytime soon.

Jim

I suppose the moist snuff is good for placing as well. More of a spackle than a slap though. :p
