My advise, take it for what it cost you: You want a quality pipe in the $50 range?? ebay a nice estate Peterson or Stanwell, thats what I do.
okay pb, i did take some more of your advice and placed a bunch of $50 bids on some $100+ pipes. out of maybe 5 bids, i scored a nice stanwell canadian. great advice. if you can stomach all the losses, eventually you're going to win one and get a heck of a deal. thanks bro!

Johs is Bjarne..

Its what the company was renamed after his death.
To the best of my knowledge any pipe you still see on the market bearing the actual Bjarne name is NOS..

I hate to disagree but I believe you are mistaken Johs(Mogens Johansen) was one of the main pipemakers that work for Bjarne, Bjarne himself was not a pipemaker, Johs in the other hand started his own line after he left Bjarne. In the pipedia page it says that he was in charge of the low end line of bjarne. As of now the brand bjarne has been licensed to independent companies for the continuation of the line.

Your quite free to disagree with me, I can't force you to be right.. Johs bought the building, the machines, the wood, took over responsiblityfor the utility's and changed the name on the door.... Consider that he carved most of the actual handmade pipes and had no small part in day to day operations I think its safe to say Johs is Bjarne... Pipedia be damned... the only thing rolling out with the same name are the viking..I heartily reccomend talking to someone that knows what they are talking about before quoting garbage off that sight like its Gospel... :D

Well damn LV9 I at least expected you to tell me to piss off...lol

Seriouslly though... SP.com advertised the Johs pipes ax a continuation of the Bjarne pipe with a nice little story about it when they first started carrying them... they've since took it down, I guess two years is long enough to establish a man under his own name?

As a matter of fact I was trying to get in touch with the distributor of bjarne vikings and johs in the Us to settle where are the made and who currently makes them. Hopefully I'll get an email either tomorrow or next week, hell i don't care who's correct or incorrect I just want to get it right..

P.S. this is a hobby where there is not many of us involved and those who are involved are very passionate about it, no brother I would never be piss off for something post it here.

yeah, except for his ebay advice, the rest of his has been pretty shotty/******. i once punched my wife in the face just on the basis of something he advised. you got to be careful with pb. (anyway, if you prove him wrong, he'll just blame it on his poor blackberry typing...)

No I blame my typos on the mobile devices..... other than that I've always been right... :D

Bjarne Pipes

Bjarne Nielsen, the owner and the founder of bjarne pipes, passed away in February 2008. The company was founded in 1973 and became Denmark's largest pipe manufacturer of 100% hand made pipes. Through an agreement with his family, we were able to purchase the remaining inventory of Bjarne pipes, and are proud to be able to offer them to you.

For what it's worth...I have a Bjarne billiard that I really like a lot. It's one of my best smokers. I bought it at Knoxville Cigar Company about four or five years ago, for, I think, about $85.00 or something.

On my "wish list" for 2011 is a Bjarne.

While I'd love to have one of the high end pipes, I think I'll check out the econo line first to
see what the consensus is.
