I was in the shop this past Saturday to smoke and shoot the breeze with the fellas. J.M. told me they were having everyone sample a new blend. It's an aro, but pretty nice, very smooth, some vanilla, maybe a touch of cherry or berry. As usual they are having a naming contest and the winner gets a pound of the new blend. I'll definitely be picking up a few ounces when the jar isn't so empty.

I'm over-due for a Saturday visit! Please definitely share when their holiday gathering is scheduled, I'll definitely make that.

That is so cool having a B&M you can visit and have a natter with fellow pipers, when I read about the naming contest and read the description of the blend I had the name Bella rattle through me brain pan, what do think, reckon I would win.

It is pretty great. I'm within walking distance too so I get my exercise. The fellas are all pretty nice, lots of joking and laughing. Lots of mixed political backgrounds and opinions and yet we all seem to get along.

Yeah, you have to make sure you talk about politics, sports and religion when around new people. :D

It's the same old group. :)

Boswells, despite being in a small, rural, fairly conservative town has pretty open minded customers and not very judgemental from my experiences. Although on my last visit, an older guy (to me...around 70...) picked up my SmokinHolsters pipe bag and said "I need to get me one of those man bags", which made me laugh!

I am amazingly jealous that you can go to Boswells. I have 3 of their pipes, all awesome. And I smoke Berry Cobbler, Pipers Delight, Christmas Cookie and Cherry Smash. All excellent. Going to have to try their new stuff when its available.

Z, if you're interested in giving this new Boswell's blend a test run, why not ask for an ounce in an order? I doubt you have to visit the shop to get in on the blend naming contest -- it's likely open to West Coasters as well :p  And who knows, you might win a pound of it for the effort

The guy who makes the SmokingHolsters products spares no expense on anything and passes all that cost to you. Hi-end leathers, overall. Name is Neil Flancbaum, I believe.

Yep, this is a "Necessities" (2 pipe) bag, it can actually hold 5-6 pipes. I bought this from the classifieds on the SmokersForums for a fraction of the new cost.

I see the contest is over and the name 'Cupcake' was decided upon.  Anybody tried it, thoughts?  I do enjoy Boswell's Christmas Cookie and I'm guessing Cupcake is in the same ballpark?  I may order a couple ounces, but wanted to hear from others who have tried it.

Oh, and too bad I didn't enter the contest, b/c I'm fairly certain I could have come up with something better than the name 'Cupcake'...maybe next time!
DISCLAIMER:  If the contest winner is a member of BoB---I'm not a hater, I'm just jealous of you winning a pound of tobacco...

Andrew, a member of my Christopher Morley's Pipe Club, won the naming contest and got a pound of the new blend. I need to try some and report back.

I have tried it and it's a really nice aromatic. Not sickly sweet, just a nice light vanilla cake flavor to it. And it really does smell like a cupcake. :)
