Very interesting. My old Stanwells (1986) are stamped "Made in Denmark". My newer Stanwell that I purchased last year is stamped "Stanwell Danish Design Brushed", but it does not note made in either Denmark or Italy! I also notice that my newer one is much lighter than the old ones. It does not have the good feel that the old ones have. Although, the newer one does smoke well, but it does get a bit hot if smoked too rapidly.Richard Burley":pmolllfy said:Brand & factory were established in 1942 by Poul Nielsen.Stinger4me":pmolllfy said:When did Stanwell change production from Denmark to Italy?
The company has been owned since 2000 by Nordisk Tobaks Kompagni A/S.
The factory in Borup crafted all Stanwell pipes from 1965 until 2009.
From 2010 on the pipes are crafted by Barontini (Italy) except for the limited editions.
Production (2007): 115 000 Pipes/year.
