I just wanted opinion on what people think about the bugler boy like cigarette tobacco smoking it out of a pipe I have been smoking it out of a pipe just because it's what I had it burns quick but I just wondered what other people thought

There's much better out there if you can afford it.

Use to roll it when I was a young man in the 1960's.

I took the bugler boy and mixed it with a little bit of some Periqe I had and then put it in my pres pressed it for about I think four days 5 days just to get the flavors melded and it's pretty good it's okay me it's not the best

Some of the Super Value burleys are much better and about the same price. Maybe a little more.

Also, many of the D&R bagged tobaccos are really good with a bit of hydration. Check out JimInks' reviews.

Also, Smokingpipes' bulk Low Country Va/Bur is fabulous at under $20/pound if you're into "gutsy" burley forward smokes. Pardon my senility and my inability to collect my thoughts all at once. :lol!:

I have not had Bugler Boy but I second the recommendation for D&R for a quick premium cigaretty straight tobaccoy smoke.  Escpecially Ramback Balkan. It is really cheap for the quality. About $20-$30 a lb.

I used to roll bugler in high school lol. Brings back some memories. It’s not bad, honestly. I think I may have smoked it in a pipe and inhaled a few times when I ran out of papers. They do make bugler pipe tobacco as well, that is sold in big bags in gas stations around here. It’s not bad either, if you like bugler. Personally, I think the difference between rolling tobacco and shag cut pipe tobacco is all in hydration.

I'll second giving the Daughters & Ryan tobaccos a try. They often go on sale at P&C. I don't know Bugler's price point, but when in bulk, the D&R tobaccos are affordable and a very good value. I think you can get them for $1/oz. Truly good tobacco quality at a low price point. He also believes in a lower moisture content, so you get a lot of tobacco for your money. I smoke the Picayune out of a pipe and like it quite a bit (even started a thread about it). Three Sails is a knock-off of Three Castles. I don't think it tastes anything like Three Castles, but it's a decent Virginia RYO that could feasibly be smoked from a pipe. I'm sure there are others that could meet your needs.

yeah I just had what I had at the time but I figured hey I'd ask and see what people thought maybe there's something else that I could try but I just thought maybe while I'm kind of broke maybe something cheap to to you I smoke while my actual tobacco is starting my little plants

I've smoked much worse than bugler. No shame in smoking what's available or cheap for that matter. You'll find adding moisture to it will really improve the flavor in your pipe. The only way to really enjoy a shag RYO in a pipe as is is if you have a The Pipe. Made in the 60's out of polymer and a graphite bowl. They work really well with shag packed super loose. The Chinese are currently turning out a similar pipe for nearly nothing if you can't find a real The Pipe.
