It's amazing to me just how dramatic ones taste in tobacco can change wit time. I started with English stuff and smoked Dunhills #965 excusively for a few years. Then one day I was so turned off with latakia that I moved to VA's and burley flakes and never looked back. Recently, these have turned boring to me and I'm actually smoking Lakeland blends constantly! I used to absoluetly loathe the stuff. Now, I'm loving on well aged Ennerdale Flk from Dad's stash. I wonder what's next? Aromatics?

Hey Guido. I told you that sooner or later you'd enjoy Lakeland flakes! and someday you will also admit that you regret selling all those great pipes. People change, times change, tastes change. Dump the laundry!!!!!!! :lol!:

Oh my, I´ve been hangin' with the Lakeland bunch over the last year too! My current fave is G&H Coniston Cut Plug.

Great to see ya post again Dock!

Burley to VaBur to VaBurPer to VaPer to Va. ,,,,repeat,,,repeat,,

Well, I mean, one's mood changes. Sometmes I want an aro, other times not so much. Sometimes I'm not in the mood for latakia, other times I just get in the mood to smoke a bonfire.

Hey playboy  We gotta set something straight here. Who the heck said that I sold them all? This is gonna be a tough one for some to understand but when I was collecting the uber high grades they sat in their racks while I smoked my Stans and lower end briars. I collected the pipes for their sculptural quality almost exclusively. At my height of pad , between 02-09 I was spending thousands a year on pipes that just weren't used. I never gave an exact number of what I owned in total but I'll disclose that it was somewhere north of four hundred. I could have easily afforded to keep them ALL but it seemed sorta silly

At the end I did think that I was done with pipes forever only to discover this year that I wasn't. As far as regrets go, I honestly have none. It was a fun run but the time was ripe for change. I took all the enthusiasim that I had for pipes and turned them towards fitness. I'm alot happier and healthier than I used to be.

Who knows what the next facination will be? Lately it's been cars but I've really been looking for a vintage BMW motorcycle w/ a side car!

Doc,
First off, great to see you back around these parts. I never forgot your kindness at the Newark Show back in 2010 and am really glad to see you post. Secondly, while I don't go for the straight up Lakeland stuff, I do enjoy G&H Dark Flake Unscented and Dark Bird's Eye quite frequently these days and I suppose the case could be made that these are pretty much "Lakelands" anyhow. Again, good to see ya back on here and don't be a stranger!

I get it!

Nice to "see" you, Dock. Don't forget us. As I did before, I will again, wish you all the health and happiness life can bring you in whatever you do. Of course I miss you as do many of your "brothers" here so don't stray too far. Maybe you will surprise one of these days at another Newark Show???

Don't worry, I'll get DocW in line next time I see him! :lol!:

...and BTW, I too have made a change (over a year now) to smoking predominantly Virginia blends (non-latakia) after a few years of smoking Latakia blends exclusively. Maybe with the upcoming change about to occur in the weather I will once again turn to those wonderful English blends - but it didn't happen last fall - winter! We'll see. You are 100% correct when you say tastes change.

Be well!

Now that is a nice goal! many great bikes show up around NNJ at bike night over the summer.

Aromatics? I think not. Ken's hope for you to find true love with Lakelands may be coming to fruition. Aromatics might cause storms and destruction from beyond to curse us all! :affraid:

Good to "see" you again,

Natch

Like what you smoke and smoke what you like ;) My taste change as well, but more with the change of season.

my tastes have proven flighty of late also--after smoking burley exclusively for 53 years, i have now bought and even enjoyed a few va., vaper, and oriental blends--wonders never cease--
