I removed the stem insert from a cob and glued the stem proper back in place. In so doing wood glue rolled down into the bottom of the cob, where it has proceeded to stay. I can't just pop it out with a screwdriver, say, as it really seems to have bonded to the cob. I've also inserted a pocket knife blade and tried to score it such that it would be removable in pieces. No go.

Help!

Doubt it is a problem. I don't know of a wood glue that has a poison control number on the label. Where it is located shouldn't burn. I doubt there will be a taste. I suppose you could cover it with some pipe mud which isn't a bad idea with cobs and their odd stem/bowl mating.

In the future, you might want to put some in a bottle cap or such and then fold a pipe cleaner to make a brush of sorts and apply using that. Just apply enough to fill any small gap in the stem/bowl mating or later fill exterior gaps using a toothpick to apply. The mating is rather rudimentary and I've had a similar air gap affect draw similar to what a magic inch provides.

Well let's see...if it were me I'de probably start with the dental pick type thing-me that I've got for working on delminated skiis & snowboards. Super handy and definitely worthy of any toolbox (and easy enough to find in most hardware or auto parts shops). If I couldn't get the glue to pop loose with that then I might try sandpaper, probably wrapped around an appropriately sized wood dowel - maybe even in tandem with the pick. Once I was satisfied or tired of the whole business   I'de give the bottom of the bowl a nice fresh coat of pipemud and call it good :!:

Reporting that vegetable oil removed the glue! A wad of paper towel with the oil and various instruments to rub it against the bottom. 3 or 4 reasonable applications to do the job.

Thanks to Jers for the solution!
