Kfc sometimes makes me feel a bit sick I probably only have it 1 or 2 times a year. I found this a good likeness and is oven baked not deep fried with no msg and tastes great.
There are loads on the web do a search. I used this one but used olive oil in pan and spray instead of canola oil. The coating ends up almost like it was deep fried in taste and look yummmm.
Sooo easy and quick.
If you don't like the hot and spicy leave out the cayenne pepper and the other warm ones.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken
  • 3 tbsp canola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 2-3 tbsp water or milk
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp powered thyme
  • 1 tbsp powdered sage
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried marjoram
  • 1 tbsp dry mustard powder
  • 1 tbsp powdered ginger
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Combine all of the ingredients in the flour and spice dredge.
  3. Dip the chicken pieces in egg wash of 2 eggs beaten together with 2 tbsp water, then dredge thoroughly in the flour and spice mixture to coat the pieces evenly.
  4. Coat the bottom of a cookie sheet or large baking pan with the canola oil.
  5. Place the coated chicken pieces in the pan and lightly spray the tops with olive oil from a spray bottle.
  6. Bake at 375 degrees for 50-60 minutes depending on the size of the chicken pieces. I use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature of the largest pieces reaches 165 degrees F.

Will give it a crack, my recipe has celery salt in it too.

Can't seem to find it currently but it was simliar to yours.

The spices and herbs alone make a pretty good meat rub for a BBQ.

Talking of which, got a beef brisket on my new smoker currently, about 10 degrees from done according to the probe.

Sounds really yummy. Currently too indolent to try it out - must be that post-retirement entropy I've mentioned before. Hey, I'll get my better half to make it, (fat chance) :ROFLMAO:
