Anybody know these? I'm not a collector and I've come to apply the "comfort food" mentality to my smoking, but these pieces smoke pretty good in my opinion. My favorite smoke shop has them clamped onto a board on their wall right next to the cases of expensive pipes, I've bought six of them for $25 to $40. My $40 is a big quarter bent I bought from another shop some five years ago, just for home use.

The only shortcoming appears to be some sorry, oxidized vulcanite on many of them, or just a sorry bowl design on others with thin walls. I've bought none that were substandard, and I've enjoyed the ones I have. Most of mine are rustic with thick, good-sized bowls. They smoke cool and are all I need, but I do have to put olive oil on the stems about once a week due to oxidization. Plus, they look attractive and show no signs of wear as cheap pipes seem to very quickly.

Anyways, just wondering if these are very common. Seems like they would be, but I've found no info online.

Yes, actually! I post rarely here so forgive me up front for that, I'd have replied alot sooner.

I've purchased 3 of these "Czech" branded pipes so far. My local shop carries them as well and I've paid no more than 35$ for all 3.

They're actually among my favorite pipes. I've got a few nice Savinellis, a Cassano, a Peterson and a Nording that frequently get left behind because of how cheap and nice these are.

I've got 3 bents, one in a bulldog, one in a brandyish shape, and the other in an apple. I love them all and I'm glad someone else has found them as well. I'll ask next time I pick some tobacco up what the story is.

yeah...I had a czech bulldog, that I really miss!
I sold it to an older guy at work, who was getting into pipe smoking, it had a stinger, but ended up taking it out. It was one of my first pipes, and I do miss this pipe, it had alot of Character.
These pipes are made by Calabresi from what I understand.
I would like to find another bulldog one day, my only problem with it, was the clear coat chipping on the top of the bowl (thats what it seemed like anyway) lol
