December Portland BoB Meeting

So I will be headed back through Portland in early to mid December. I will be through there for just a couple days, but am hoping one of the nights it would be possible to meet up with some of the guys up in that general area. I was thinking maybe of meeting up at Rich's http://www.richscigarstore.com or wherever y'all local to the area go to sit down and enjoy a leisurely smoke and shoot the proverbial sxxx. I don't have an exact date yet, but ccan work ll that out when the time draws nearer. Just hoping that in posting this now that some of y'all might be able to find a little time to sit and relax for a couple hours and share in a smoke. If we can get as many BoB POY's in there as possible it would be a wicked cool way to take a pic and send it off to Mark Tinsky to show how much we enjoy them, but of course if you're rocking a Grabow or cob that rocks too, it's all just brotherly love. I am hoping to be through there around the 10-12 but that is of course extremely tentative right now; all that is set is early to mid December. If you are interested I'd love to hear from you or have a suggestion for a different location to smoke that would be awesome too.

Oh, Voodoo Donuts is most assuredly on my to do list when I go through there again, that place is AWESOME!!!

So I am looking at coming through sometime between the 12th and 14th most likely. I tried to work out a weekend there but timelines just aren't working with my company right now to do that. I know being mid week it will probably be a very small meet up, but I assure you I will be through again at some point. I will give out more definite details when time comes closer guys, but that is the best I can do for right now.

Okay so I am thinking the night of the 12th to meet up with anyone who can make it should be perfect. I have more defined dates, of course not completely set in stone yet, but the evening of the 12th looks to be the best best bet to meet some of y'all before they shove me out of Portland again for a little down time at home.

As much as I'd love to do a meet and greet with you kaiser, Fishfuzz, and gravel, driving down to Portland in the middle of the week is just completely out of the realm of possibility for me. If it was a weekend it might've been different but as it is........

As of right now, the 12th isn't lining up with my bride and my work schedules. I'm working on it. I figure since you are coming half way across the planet, the least I can do is make this work.

The 12th is golden on my end. Working on a place to smoke indoors. So far there is one who will let us smoke pipes indoors and one who let's cigars be smoked but not pipes.

They are open until 7pm on weekdays. When I emailed them and asked about smoking there this was the response:
"Darrell, although we are allowed to smoke at this location we do not have a smoking area or lounge ( no chairs ). We would be happy for you and your friends to come and enjoy a bowl. There is nowhere for us pipe smokers to go to enjoy our pipes but by all means please stop by and see us.-Bill"

So it seems Bill is a pipe smoker and definitely down with us coming up and hanging out enjoying a bowl.

It was suggested that we all meet somewhere and take one car in to making parking less of a hassle for us and I think that is a pretty darn good idea. I am thinking meeting at 5 will work out well for you guys with work and all, but if not let me know. You guys should all be headed North past my hotel so I am thinking that will be a good place for all of us to meet up. (I figured 5 because it gives us time to get in there and have a smoke before closing, if 5 doesn't work for y'all let me know.)

Those folks have never given me any hassle at all and there is always room in the lot. Plus if any of you geocache there is one of those right next to the hotel also.

How do you feel about meeting earlier in the day? I believe that would free up BH and Gravel.

I honestly hope I can, but am unsure. My medical and post/pre deployment briefings are all that day. We could back it up a day to the 11th if that makes it easier for y'all. I am supposed to be at PDX at uh....just afternoon or some such time. I would figure i'd be done around 3ish or so the 12th, but I won't know for sure until I get there and see what new hoops I have to jump through to leave the country again Dec31 or the 1st week of Jan.
